JOIN MAAR:
Men Acting Against Rape is a student club dedicated to education and outreach regarding the issue of sexual assault against women. The club has received enormous support from the campus community and we need more members to help this club as we take an active role to stop rape. The founders of MAAR believe that this goal of RESPECT towards all people can only be accomplished with your help. So, check out the news or calendar pages to see when our next meeting is, and come join us. To find out more about MAAR navigate to the contact page to get on the MAAR informational listserv.

OUTREACH:
MAAR is currently in development of an outreach program, that upon completion, will take over for the UCDPD’S Campus Violence Prevention Program, as the sole outreach program on the UC Davis Campus directed towards male clubs and organizations regarding the issues surrounding sexual assault towards women. If you join MAAR, not only will you help in creating this outreach program, but you can be trained as a Peer Educator and rewarded class units.
As a Peer Educator, you will work closely with the Campus Violence Prevention Program as a presenter of MAAR’s peer education program. This is exciting work where you will not only gain valuable work experience, speech experience and units, but also have the chance to truly make an impact on this campus.

ASUCD RELATIONS:
Are you interested in politics? Then, MAAR offers the perfect opportunity to put your interests for politics and the opportunity to work in a field of tremendous impact. This person(s) will have the opportunity to draft ASUCD legislation that will further enhance the safety of this campus not only for women, but for the entire campus community.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:
Are you interested in journalism, public relations, or communications? MAAR needs members interested in these areas in order to communicate more effectively with prospective members, the campus community as a whole, and the UC Davis Aggie Newspaper. This role, encompassed within the Media and Outreach Committee of MAAR, will allow you the opportunity to create advertising campaigns, develop membership recruitment drives, and to write editorials or guest opinions to the Aggie. This area can also encompass becoming responsible for the upkeep and renovation for the club’s website. The possibilities for this role are endless and can look excellent on a resume in any field.

EVENTS:
MAAR has worked feverishly this year to get its name and its message out to the UC Davis campus through the use of planned events and discussions by guest speakers. An example of such an event would be the display that was erected on the quad showcasing stories collected from men on this campus regarding how sexual assault against women had affected their lives. But, this event is just the beginning and we need your creativity to have bigger, better events in the future. MAAR is growing and you can be an integral part of its foundation.

DON’T JUST BE AGAINST RAPE, ACT AGAINST RAPE!
The possibilities within this club for anyone who feels this issue is important are limitless and not restricted to the areas addressed above. Come and make a difference on this campus by creating a safer, more respectful environment for everyone.
